Mission Impossible: Rogue Protocol

After watching Ghost Protocol I was convinced that the Mission Impossible brand had made something special that might breath new life into the franchise. Rouge Nation did not fall apart but also did not find the same excitement of its predecessor. While this movie tries to make itself distinct it gets lost in the action and hidden plot.
Great spy movies convince you that you know what is happening only to pull the rug out from under you and reveal what is truly taking place. Throughout Rouge Nation there is no false security however and it feels more like everyone is on for the ride just responding to what is thrown at them. This lack of a clear vision deflates the well coordinated action.
Rouge Nation is great to watch in theaters for the action, but does not have the same excitement level of Ghost Protocol making it feel formulaic overall.
